The International Coronelli Society for the Study of Globes

Since 2018 we sell antique globes and recently became a member of The International Coronelli Society for the Study of Globes.

Three hundred years ago, Fr. Vincenzo Coronelli was making globes of several sizes, from the very large to the very small. He was also founder of the “Academia Cosmografica degli Argonauti”, the first geographical society in the world. His name is to live on in the “International Coronelli Society for the Study of Globes”.

The Society’s Goal
The International Coronelli Society (founded 1952) is devoted to the scientific investigation of questions relating to old and antique terrestrial and celestial globes, armillary spheres and planetaria, and the publication of the results of these investigations. Included in its activities are matters such as the drawing up of inventories, conservation and restoration work, research into the producers, and questions related to the use of globes. The International Coronelli Society is the only one of its kind and one of the oldest societies in the field of the history of cartography.
